About Me

When I was five years old, I asked my mother what my name was going to be when I grew up. She answered:

Mom: “If you decide to get married your last name will most likely be changed to your husband’s…”

Me: “No, I mean my first name. Kamie is a little girl’s name…”

Mom: “Sorry, but you’re stuck with that one.”

22 years later, my name is still Kamie and I love it. Ever since I was young, I adored stories. Whether I got them from the chapter books I read into the night or the VHS tapes hidden in our TV cabinet, it didn’t matter. I was enthralled.

Growing up in the suburbs of Dallas, my dreams soon melted into the business casual landscape that surrounded me. High School theatre and English classes were my only creative outlets yet when my graduation day came and went, I was ready to join my fellow adults as we entered the “real world”. However, soon enough, I realized that my ambitions were not easily smothered.

Through an internship my junior year of college, I was able to experience a film set. And it changed everything. After graduation in 2019, I became a production assistant on several films and tv shows. While I learned more than I ever thought possible, I wasn’t where I wanted to be just yet. As I continued to surround myself with passionate people, my mind was ignited with ideas and inspiration that I hoped could one day live somewhere other than my head.

Now, I am living in Los Angeles, having completed a one year screenwriting program at the New York Film Academy in Burbank. I am ready to fully immerse myself into the industry and see what comes next.

I want to create. That is who I am. From the very beginning, my imagination ran wild and now I aspire to honor that little girl by making all of it a reality.
